Why Private School?Imagine sitting around the dinner table of a local private school family - the parents and three students. With them is another student, from a local family whose parents just moved him from public school into the same private school. The dinner conversation is about toys, vacations, and extra curricular activities. Then mom makes the comment, "If we take the kids out of private school and put them in public school we'd have an extra $13,000.00 a year to enjoy those things." The student's face blanches and with trepidation in his voice he interjects "You wouldn't do that, would you?" Although this student just started attending the school he comprehends the benefits, even though his family will have to make some sacrifices This teen was sending clarion message that you can't put a price tag on a child's life. The important things in life are not necessarily fun, games, and toys, but lives changed by the committed parents seeking an aid to ".....bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord" (Ephesians 6:4) Not all families are able to add private school tuition to their already bursting budgets, but for those that are debating this investment here are some things to consider. Students who attend private schools may be more academically challenged and exposed to clearer value systems. They also may be given greater access to teachers, and feel safer than in a public school setting. If you are thinking about private schooling for your child, you as parents should start the research process early. Tuition to private schools can be competitive, so finding a school that is a perfect fit for your child can take some time. |
